Scope and Content
John P. Bentley , the Winchester Virginian office, writes to Messrs. Henkel, New Market , on August 24, 1850, concerning employment for his brother, upon the conclusion of his business in Washington , either with the Henkel family publishing firm or on the staff of the Vally Democrat of New Market , which had begun publication the year before. Bentley also expresses his interest in purchasing the Vally Democrat if its present owners fail in the business.
