Scope and Content
The diaries, 1849-1862, of William M. Blackford are concerned with life in Lynchburg, Virginia , his career, his family and related Davis family and Minor family , life at the University of Virginia , and the experiences of his five sons in the Confederate States Army . William M. Blackford (1801-1864) was a editor, postmaster and bank cashier in Lynchburg . Volume 1 of the diaries is located in accession #2221 .
