Historical Information

Around 1736, members of the Religious Society of Friends from Bucks County, PA settled in Loudoun County at Goose Creek (renamed Lincoln, VA after the Civil War). For several years they met in the homes of members. About 1751, when their numbers grew too large for this to be practical, they built a log meeting house. The stone structure pictured on these post cards, Goose Creek Meeting House, was built ca. 1765 to replace the log building. In 1817 a third Goose Creek Meeting House, made of brick, was built and used in place of the stone structure. The stone building is presently a private dwelling.
