Biographical Information

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is the Commonwealth's coordinating body for higher education. SCHEV was established by the Governor and General Assembly in 1956.SCHEV makes higher education public policy recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly in such areas as capital and operating budget planning, enrollment projections, institutional technology needs, and student financial aid. SCHEV administers a variety of educational programs that benefit students, faculty, parents, and taxpayers. SCHEV also helps policymakers, college administrators, and other concerned leaders work cooperatively and constructively to advance educational excellence.

Scope and Content

The State Council of Higher Education For Virginia- Radford University Internal Data Collection holds reports containing data and information collected by Radford College and Radford University for the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). Topics covered include enrollment data, statistics on race, salary and benefits information, financial statistics, and institutional activity from 1976-1992 with the majority of material from 1980-1992.

Enrollment data includes enrollment projections throughout the late 1980's and early 1990's and actual Fall enrollment statistics from 1986-1988. Further statistics are present on salaries with reports such as the Salaries, Tenure and Fringe Benefits Survey and Students Salaries and Reports document. Race information may be found in the reports of Institutional Characteristcs ranging the years 1986-1991 and the Institutional Profile from 1987-1989. Financial Statistics are available for the years 1984-1987 and institutional activity can be further found in a Library Survey from 1985-1992, a Total Institutional Activity Report representing the years 1986-1988, and a University Studies and Reports file.
