Biographical Information

The Mission of the Academic Affairs Division at Radford University is to create a challenging, supportive and engaging educational culture that is anchored in the liberal arts tradition and is ethically responsive to the needs of the 21st century global society. Academic Affairs encompasses the offices of Academic Advising, Office of the Provost and Community College and Transfer Affairs.

Scope and Content

The Academic Affairs - Vice President For Academic Affairs Office Records - 1960s - 1990s contains various reports generated by the Vice President for Academic Affairs' office during the 1970s and 1980s. Includes reports on faculty salaries, Writing Across the Curriculum information, faculty and staff information, faculty/staff handbooks, tenure information, various departmental reports, reports on various incentives and programs, correspondence, budget information, and other related materials produced by the VPAA's office.

Specific material in these records include exhibits regarding Dr. Ed Jervey Trial (1968), Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure Minutes (1968-1973) and information on the Froio Case (1981-1982). Various information on Faculty and Staff from 1969- 1975 and information on salaries for the same. Lists of Faculty in general and those who are tenured are also present as well as Faculty positions from 1977-1978 and a Budget Study of 1971-1973. Tenure books from 1970-1981 are found in these records along with Vice President correspondence from 1974-1981, Faculty and Staff Handbooks from 1983-1992 and Writing Across the Curriculum Reports from 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1988.

Other items include Employee Contracts from 1984, Approved Programs Study list, Dual Degree Program with Old Dominion (1980) information, list of Minors from 1975 and list of Minority Student Concerns from 1988. Further this collection includes a list of Graduate Faculty for the 1991-1992 school year, an Off Campus Pay Scale report from 1978-1983, information on Opening of School, lists of Promotions and Tenure from the mid 1980's, an Economic Impact Study (1977), Driver Education information (1981-1986) and the Education Budget for 1983-1986.

Enrollment Data in general for the school year 1989-1990 and for the Graduate College and School of Fine Arts (1973-1989 and 1983-1985 respectively) are also present. Energy Crisis Plans and information on the School of Fine Arts such as budgets and minutes are held herein as well as General Education Graduation Requirements (1976-1978) and Governer's Correspondence from 1978-1980 . Handicapped information for 1977-1980, a Handicapped Planning Renovation and Improvements Project Report from 1980, Letters to Students from 1986-1988, Budget Expenditures from 1988-1989 and Academic and Administrative Council Meeting Minutes round out the collection.
