This collection contains notes and essay by an English girl named Edith F. Hawkshaw. Biographical Note

Edith Fanny Hawkshaw was born in 1847 in Oxfordshire, England, the daughter of Reverend Edward Hawkshaw. Edith married at forty-three to the seventy-five year old mechanical engineer Henry Wollaston Blake in 1890. As of 1911, she was a windower after Blake's death, and living with her father.
