John Kelly Copenhaver was born c. 1898 in Seven Mile Ford, Virginia. Copenhaver graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1920. While attending VPI Copenhaver played on the football team and was injured in a game against Norfolk in November 1919.
The John Kelly Copenhaver Collection contains two leather bound commencement invitation and programs, one dating from 1919 and the other from 1921; a photograph of the reunion of the Class of 1920; and cadet uniform pins and buttons.
