Born in Newport, Pennsylvania, Horatio Seymour Stahl (1868-1935) was the son of William Stahl and Julia Harton and brother of Chester, Anna, and Wilhelmena. He married Brownie Chancellor Arundel (1878-1956) on August 24, 1909, and they had two children, William and Julia. Stahl earned a B.S. in Applied Chemistry and General Science in 1907 and an M.S. in Chemistry, Botany, and Geology in 1910, both from Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute. He taught Botany and Biology at VPI from 1908 until his death in 1935.
The Horatio Seymour Stahl Papers, 1881-1937, undated, consist of Stahl's radio talks and diplomas, VPI commencement programs and student lists, a piece written by Annie Stahl, a business ledger for W. S. Stahl, and a tribute for Chester L. Stahl.
The collection is arranged chronologically.
