Biographical / Historical

Evelyn Ryan was a reporter for The Dominion Post for 45 years from 1968 until her retirement in 2013. Evelyn was a charter member and the recording secretary for WV Press Women, a subdivision of the National Federation of Press Women, established in 1972. She is a multi-award winning reporter and writer, having won many writing contests held by the Press Women. Evelyn was also an activist for women in journalism.

Papers of Evelyn Ryan, reporter at The Dominion Post and newspaper union activist; includes a full run of The Lairiat , a public relations newspaper focusing on the construction and opening of the West Virginia University's Mountainlair, records of the Mountaineer Newspaper Guild circa 1970s-1980s, and papers about unionizing newspaper workers and various newspapers.
