Biographical / Historical
Marc Harshman was born and raised in Randolph County in Indiana. He then moved to Marshall County in West Virginia where he has spent his adult life writing books and poetry and teaching at the Sand Hill three-room country school. He holds degrees from Bethany College, Yale University and the University of Pittsburgh, and became the West Virginia Poet Laureate in 2012.
He has published over 14 children's books, the first of which was published in 1989, and several poetry collections and chapbooks. His most recent poetry collection, Believe What You Can, won the 2017 Weatherford Award from the Appalachian Studies Association.

Collection largely contains papers regarding Marc Harshman's professional career as an author, storyteller, and teacher. There are some family papers as well.
