Abstract
Letters from West Virginia newspapers and organizations such as the West Virginia Editorial Association concerning Dorr's
prospects for his first re-election as a Congressman. The correspondence is indicative of the lobbying efforts exercised by
the press on the political process of that era.

C.P. Dorr was a politician who started as a member of the Webster Springs town council and went on to serve in the House of
Delegates before being elected in 1896 to the Third District Congressional seat. He was not renominated in 1898 and decided
to retire from politics for private law practice in Webster Springs.
