Abstract
Photocopied histories of Blacksville, West Virginia, as compiled or written by W. B. Haught. Contains three copies of "Blacksville
and Vicinity: Early History," a four-page history compiled by W. B. Haught in 1920. This document describes the settlement
of Blacksville in the late 1700s and prominent settlers as well as buildings and homes in the town through 1902. Collection
also contains three copies of a topical history of the town, apparently compiled by W. B. Haught in 1948. This document includes
brief histories of various topics related to Blacksville, such as the blockhouse, conflict with Native Americans, merchants,
lots of land sold in the 1830s, constabulary districts, town officers, churches, prominent citizens, land grants, and funeral
records in the early 1900s. Also included is a short list of Haught family members born between 1720 and 1811.
