Historical Information

Loudoun Station is a planned mixed use development in Loudoun County that encompasses retail, commercial, and residential buildings as well as transit links to the planned WMATA Silver Line, bus, and other forms of public transportation. Ground breaking for the development commenced on April 20th 2011, though issues of planning and zoning as detailed in the collection were discussed between 2002 and 2003. Loudoun Station is included in phase two of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's Silver Line project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2016.

Scope and Contents

The Loudoun Station collection contains numerous documents relating to the rezoning of area in Loudoun County for the purpose of building a "mixed-use, transit-oriented development" to be linked to the Washington Metro's planned silver line. The documents include correspondence, memorandums, proposals and studies relating to the proposed station. The documents are mostly authored by the Department of Building and Development and the development company Comstock Partners. The documents in this collection thoroughly detail the process of building Loudoun Station. Included are reports on design guidelines and standards, demographics, traffic impact, fiscal impact and other issues.
