Scope and Content

This series consists of letters sent from Clerks of Court throughout the state to the Secretary of the Commonwealth per the request for information on marriages performed. Letters are dated from 1838, and include the number of marriages for 1817, 1827, 1837, and occasionally 1838. Included with these numbers are those who were unable to sign their own names, and occasionally a list naming the individuals who were wed.

This collection is arranged alphabetically by county name, then by city name.
