The Genealogical Bureau of Virginia was founded by William Macfarlane Jones (1868-1951). The Bureau conducted genealogical research in Virginia records for clients.

Scope and Content

Records, 1923-1945, of the Genealogical Bureau of Virginia, located in Richmond, Virginia, consisting of abstracts of deeds, wills, birth, marriage, and death records; correspondence, genealogical charts and notes; research records, and other documents detailing the Bureau's genealogical research for clients regarding ancestors who lived in Virginia. Genealogical research was often conducted to assist clients interested in membership in societies like the Daughters of the American Revolution or the Sons of the American Revolution.
