Scope and Content

Albemarle County (Va.) Public Buildings and Grounds, 1858-1870. This series consists of reports, contracts, orders for repairs, and accounts for public buildings. Found most predominantly are jail inspectors' reports, but also included are reports on the condition of the courthouse, appointments of committees for building projects, and upkeep of the public square.

Most noteable are the architectural drawing and written materials relative to the construction of a new court clerk's office, 1869. The architectural rendering shows a facade and floor plan of the structure. Written materials include specifications, committee appointments, reports, orders, and a sketch of the floor plan for the Staunton (Augusta County) clerk's office as a reference.
