Albemarle County was named for William Anne Keppel, second earl of Albemarle and governor of the Virginia colony from 1737
to 1754. It was formed from Goochland County in 1744, and part of Louisa County and certain islands in the Fluvanna River,
now called the James, were added in 1761 and 1838.
Albemarle County (Va.) Samuel O. Moon Receipt Book, 1824-1841, is a volume of receipts kept by Moon as he conducted business
as constable for Albemarle County. The majority of entries in the book concern payments to satisfy executions for money judgments.
Additional entries included are various agreements and contracts in which Moon was a party and may or may not be official
