Surry County was formed in 1652 from James City County.
The deed and will books of Surry County in this collection were created by the County Court.
Scope and Content
Deed Books, 1671-1684, 1694-1709 and 1730-1738, of Surry County Court. The deed book records the name of the grantor and grantee, the residence of both individuals and the description of property being sold or transferred. All of the volumes have indexes which contains the first and last names of both parties. It is arranged alphabetically from A-Z.
Will Books, 1671-1684, 1694-1709 and 1730-1738, of Surry County Court. The will books includes the names of testator, list of heirs and year the wills were proven in court and probate records such as inventories and appraisements. The index for these volumes were included in another book.
