This item came to the Library of Virginia in shipments of court papers from Lynchburg.
Weinman Wills Barytes Company operated a mining facility in Lynchburg, Va., for a brief period from 1895 to 1896. Officers of the company included H. H. Denning, president; E. D. Wills, vice-president; and W. J. Weinman, secretary. In September 1896, the company was forced to turn over its assets to trustee A. R. Long so that they could be liquidated and the proceeds applied to the debts incurred by the company.
Weinman Wills Barytes Company Stockholder Minute Book, 1895-1896, records meetings of the company's officers and stockholders. The minutes document the election of officers, duties and compensation of officers, collection of stock, and a proposed merger with the Lynchburg Manufacturing Company. The last meeting, held 4 September 1896, discusses the inability of the company to pay its creditors and the transfer of the company's assets to trustee A. R. Long.
