Scope and Content

William H. Mosley Auction Sales Book, 1849-1850, records the sales made at auctions and private sales held in Lynchburg, Va. Entries are organized by date of auction. Information found in each transaction include lot number, name of winning bidder, item purchased, and the amount paid. Purchases were totaled at the end of each auction. A variety of items were sold at the auctions including furniture, glassware, tobacco, cloth, stoneware, jewelry, and livestock.
