This item came to the Library of Virginia under the accession number 27890.
Halifax County was named for George Montagu Dunk, second earl of Halifax, who was president of the Board of Trade from 1748
to 1761. It was formed from Lunenburg County in 1752.
Minute books contain the clerk of court's rough notes of court proceedings which were later to be transcribed into an order
book. There is usually no index.
