This item came to the Library of Virginia in shipments of court papers from Henrico County.
Edward Powers and Company was a partnership formed in 1875 by John N. Van Lew and Edward Powers for the purpose of manufacturing paper bags. The partnership dissolved in 1877.
The volumes were used as exhibits in a chancery suit, John N. Vanlew and others versus Edward Powers and wife and others, heard in the Circuit Court of Henrico County during the 1870's and 1880's.
Henrico County was named for Henry, Prince of Wales, the oldest son of James I. It was one of the eight original shires established in 1634.
Edward Powers and Company Account Book, 1875-1878, records the receipts and disbursements of Edward Powers and Company.
