These items came to the Library of Virginia in a shipment of court papers from Lancaster County.

Lancaster was formed in 1651 from Northumberland and York counties.
The will books of Lancaster County in this collection were created by the County Court.
Scope and Content
Will Books, 1674-1795, of Lancaster County Court. The will book includes the name of testator, list of heirs and year the wills were proven in court and probate records such as inventories and appraisements. All of the volumes have indexes except, 1690-1709 and 1770-1783.
