Muster Roll of Louisa County in the War in Defense of Virginia, 1861-1865, consists of two muster rolls compiled in 1905 and 1910 from roll lists, ordinance reports and participants' memory of men from Louisa County who served in the Civil War. The muster rolls contain information about the Thirteenth Regiment Virginia Infantry, Company D, Earley's Brigade, Stonewall Jackson Corps; and the Twenty Third Regiment Virginia Volunteers Infantry, Company G, Fredericks Hall Grays. Notes in the muster roll state that the Thirteenth Regiment, Company D was organized in 1860. Notes about the Twenty Third Regiment state that the company was organized at Fredericks Hall about April 1, 1861, and mustered in Richmond aobut May 1, 1861, where they were attached to the Twenty Third Regiment as Company G. Information recorded includes names, when and where mustered, by whom, when company was mustered in, and remarks such as when and where killed, deserted, wounded, etc. The lists are arranged with officers first and then all others alphabetically by surname. The two muster rolls occupy pp. 1-7 of the volume.
