Historical Information

Mecklenburg County was named, like Charlotte County, for Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, consort of George III. It was formed from Lunenburg County in 1764.

Mecklenburg County (Va.) Fee Books, 1794-1798, record billing for marriage licenses, recording of documents, and other fees collected by the county court for the years 1794, 1797, and 1798. Each volume includes a name index.
