Historical Information

Greenbrier County (West) Virginia was named for the Greenbrier River. It was formed in 1778 from parts of Botetourt and Montgomery Counties, and portions of Monroe and Fayette Counties were added later.

Scope and Content

Greenbrier County (W. Va.) Land Grants, 1861-1864. The collection contains four land grants, as follows: to Aaron Sivey, (?), 1864 Sept. ?; to John Rucker, 1864 Sept. 1; to Henry F. Hunter, 1863 Sept. 1; and to Joseph Perry, 1861 Jan. 1.
