Historical Information

Chesterfield County was named for Philip Dormer Stanhope, fourth earl of Chesterfield, British statesman and diplomat, and was formed from Henrico County in 1749.

Scope and Content

Taylor 1865 Nov. 9; between Jordan Anderson and Moncure Robinson 1843 July 29; between Philip L. Johnson and Edward A. Johnson 1860 July 9; between Walter G. Clarke on the first part and and R. L. Walker and William B. Woodbridge on the second part 1865 Dec. 21; between Philip Johnson and Lawson Nunnally 1860 Mar. 6; between James Brown and Robert Temple, 1832; between David H. Reed and John B. Crenshaw on the first part and Nathaniel P. Crenshaw on the second part 1848 June 29; between the Trustees of the town of Manchester and R.D. Hogan 1868 Feb. 17; between R.D. Hogan and William Wallace, 1871 July 11; and between George Evans and William R. Johnson and George Markham, 1806.
