Historical Information

Pittsylvania County was formed in 1766 from Halifax County. It was named in honor of William Pitt, an English statesman.

Scope and Content

Court Records, 1782, of Pittsylvania County Circuit Court consist of copies of orders and judgments in the suit entitled the Commonwealth of Virginia versus John Printage, Senior.
