Essex County was formed in 1692 from old Rappahannock County.

Scope and Content

Records, 1737-1870, of Essex County consist of payment of quit rents by William Beverley (1737), copy of William L. Ellis' will (1866), petition of Charles E. Buker for appointment to the position of assistant marshall to take the census of Essex County (1870.)
