Joseph Fravel Account and Letter Book and Account Book, 1899-1905. Local Government Records Collection, The Library of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia.
These items came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of court papers from Shenandoah County.
Joseph Fravel was a carpenter, furniture maker, and an owner of a carpentry supply company that conducted business in Shenandoah County during the early twentieth century.
Both volumes were used as exhibits in an unidentified suit heard in Shenandoah County Circuit Court.
The Account and Letter Book and Account Book of Joseph Fravel consist of an account book and an account and letter book.
Account and letter book, 1899-1905, records the accounts of individual customers. Each account lists name of customer, residence of customer, date of transaction, services rendered, items sold, quantity and measurements of work done and items sold, cost per measurement such as foot or pound, freight cost and amount owed. Letters include correspondence with suppliers and customers. Volume is in poor condition due to missing spine.
