This item came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of court papers from New Kent County.
The unidentified general store conducted business during the mid-nineteenth century in the town of Barhamsville, New Kent County, Virginia.
Daybook F, 1861-1863, 1866-1868, 1875-1876, records transactions of an unidentified general store as they occurred on a daily basis. Information found in entries includes name of customer, items purchased, quantity of items purchased, cost per item, amount owed, and page number where information was transferred to a corresponding ledger which is missing. Additional entries found in daybook records the receipts and payments of credit accounts. Merchandise sold include whiskey, soda, farm tools, clothing, dry-goods, dishes, and bull tongues. Volume was mislabeled as a poor house day book.
