Biographical/Historical Information
William Gatewood, of Essex County, Virginia, was the son of Samuel Vince Gatewood, grandson of William Gatewood, and great grandson of Thomas Gatewood of Scotland.
Scope and Content Information
This accession consists of William Gatewood's book of accounts for his mill. There are records of repairs and additions. In addition to the milling activities, there are slave births, records of horse foaling, personal accounts, guardian accounts, and accounts with South Farnham Parish, Essex County, Virginia.
