Philipp Aylett (1790-1842) served as a member of the Virginia House and Senate and as a member of the Board of Public Works. He was also a brigadier in the Virginia militia. His son William Aylett (b. 1833) was a lawyer, a colonel in the Confederate army and Commonwealth attorney of King William County, Virginia.
Ledger records four separate accounts. Accounts of Philipp Aylett, 1813-1831 include entries for various purchases, including accounts for beef, grains, rents of a tavern, granary and tenements, purchase of slaves, purchase of Shooters Hill plantation in 1823, and for tuition for his sons. Accounts kept by William R. Aylett record various personal and business related charges, legal fees, and "receipts and amounts due," 1866-1871.
