Free negress of Louisa and later Halifax County, Virginia.

Scope and Content Information

This Accession consists of five free Negro certificates relating to slaves emancipated in 1834 by the will of Nathaniel Bunch of Louisa County, Virginia. Nancy, formerly Nancy Stewart, now Gurthridge, removed to Halifax County, Virginia in 1836, where she and her sons were registered in 1856.
