Biographical/Historical Information
Martha Burke Jones Eppes was born in Halifax County, North Carolina, on 17 February 1790. She was the daughter of Governor Willie Jones and second wife of U.S. Senator John Wayles Eppes. She died at Millbrooke, Buckingham County, Virginia on 6 December 1863.

The note and recipe book contains personal accounts, distributions of clothing and blankets to slaves, and recipes.
