He was later transferred to City Point, Virginia on March 4, 1865 for a prisoner transfer. Wayman moved several times after the war. As of 1899, he was residing in Fulton County, Illinois. He died September 29, 1910 and is buried at Smithville Cemetery, Logan Township, Peoria County Illinois.

Adam joined the Confederate Army on April 9, 1862. He was mustered into Company B of the Virginia 51st Infantry. His family was paid $10.00 (Confederate), via voucher, for his service.
