Henry O. Lampe was born in Germany of American parents. He has been employed as a government worker, as well, as a stockbroker. Mr. Lampe has a long record of civic activities since 1964. Among other activities he has been a member of the Northern Virginia Regional Planning Commission, a member of the General Assembly of Virginia, Vice Chair of the Virginia Metropolitan Areas Transportation Study Commission, a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging, a member of the Arlington Commission on Aging, Chair and President of the Northern Virginia Mental Health Association, and on the Board of Trustees at Arlington Hospital. He has also served on the Board of Visitors for George Mason University.
The collection contains materials on a variety of subjects pertaining to his diverse career as a government employee, transportation planner, and civic activist. The materials include playscripts and publications on theater as well as records and reports on gerontology and aging legislation from the Arlington Commission on Aging and the White House Conference on Aging, publications on international affairs, and records on transportation planning in northern Virginia and the Washington metropolitan area.
