Biographical/Historical Information
John Paradise was born in Greece where his father was serving as British consul. He was educated at the University of Padua, but spent most of his life in London. He married Lucy Ludwell and moved to Virginia in 1783. In 1788, however, he returned to London. Paradise died in London in 1795.
Scope and Content
Letter, partially written in Greek, from John Paradise to Dr. Warren. Paradise considers himself to be in a "most deplorable" situation and hopes for a visit from the doctor.
