Thomas Jefferson (April 13, 1743 – July 4, 1826) was the third President of the
United States (1801–1809), the principal author of the Declaration of Independence
(1776), and one of the most influential Founding Fathers for his promotion of the
ideals of republicanism in the United States.
Concerns moving the Virginia capital from Williamsburg to Richmond. Suggests that the
Board of Trade adjourn and asks that vessels be prepared by April 7 to move presses,
books, papers and other items for the offices of Trade, Council, War, the auditors
and registers, and for the furniture of the Capital and Palace. An armed vessel will
transport the Treasury.
