World War I Photographs and Modern Sample Card, 1918 & 1995, in the Joseph M. Bruccoli Great War Collection, Accession #10875-ar, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
The photographs and sample card were given to the University of Virginia Library on June 24, 1996, by Matthew J. Bruccoli, Bruccoli Clark Layman, Inc., Columbia, South Carolina. The "Third Liberty Loan" pin was given to the Library in June 1996 by Scott Derks for the Bruccoli Great War Collection.
This addition to the Joseph M. Bruccoli Great Collection consists of five items, 1918, [1995?], and undated, including three sepia photographs of United States Army enlisted men, a cloth sample card produced by the Great War Militaria Company for World War I reproduction uniforms manufactured by the firm, and a "Third Liberty Loan" button. The photographs of an unidentified soldier with two women, Sergeant Major Metalle Gemmill after emerging from the trenches at the Verdun front, and Thomas Benton Northoull (1897-?) who died from wounds received in action on August 6 and was buried at [Cantrexville, Vaseges].
