University of Virginia Faculty asked UVA graduate and local high school french teacher, Eleanor (Joyner) Gibson if she would be interested in opening a bookstore on the UVA grounds in the early 1960's. In addition to starting the Newcomb Hall Bookstore, she also taught two french classes for the University. Gibson met her husband through Charlottesville friends and claims that the University played a big role in her life.
Two black and white photographs of the interior of the University of Virginia Newcomb Hall bookstore. One photograph may be of Eleanor (Joyner) Gibson who was a graduate of UVA and started the bookstore (1960's).
