The items in this collection, which relate to Madison Peyton McClintic as a student at Longwood College, were acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
Madison Peyton McClintic of Farmville, Virginia was born in 1928 to William W. and Betsey Brown McClintic. In 1946, McClintic began attending Longwood College as a day student, earning his bachelor's degree in history in 1953. While a student at Longwood College, he was a member of the Longwood Players and Tau Theta Pi, the first male fraternity at Longwood. Additionally, he served on the Student Standards Committee. For many years, McClintic was enlisted in the National Guard, serving as an officer with Farmville's Company G.
This collection, which dates from 1950 to 1952, specifically relate to Madison Peyton McClintic as one of the few male students at Longwood College in the early 1950s.
