Scope and Content
This collection consists of a bound memorabilia album with a University of Virginia crest on the front cover, ca. 1908-1916, used as a photograph album, and twenty-three loose photographs and negatives. Also included are two sheets with words to University of Virginia songs, 1913 Class Reunion Song, The Good Old Song, Alma Mater, Virginia's Banner, and Old Virginia.
Places identified on the photographs include: Spray, North Carolina ("home"); Morehead City, North Carolina ; Woodberry Forest School (1908-1911); Charlotte, North Carolina ; the University of Virginia (1912-1916), including the Rotunda, the Football Squad in 1913, the Lawn, the Virginia (34) - Vanderbilt (0) Football Game on November 1, 1913, and the [ Lambda Pi Fraternity ?]. Most of the University of Virginia photographs were taken by Holsinger Studio . A negative envelope found in the album had the name Mr. J.L. Morehead on the front. John Lindsay Morehead , Charlotte, North Carolina , attended the University of Virginia 1912-1916, and graduated from the College on June 14, 1916; thus he was probably the former owner of this album.
