Charles Thompson, Jr. was born on 22 January 1789. He was the son of Charles Thompson (1743-1836) and Anne Jerdone. He lived
in Hanover County, and was a militia captain during the War of 1812 in the 74th Virginia militia. He then moved to Louisa
County around 1820 and operated a tavern there. Thompson then moved back to Hanover County, and served in the Virginia House
of Delegates for two terms from 1840 to 1842. He was also treasurer of the Louisa Railroad Company. Charles Thompson, Jr.
died on 13 September 1855.
