Biographical Information
Margaret Hickerson Emery resided in Richmond, Virginia. She was employed by Reynolds Metals Company. She also worked for many years as a certified genealogist, and was co-founder and president of the Genealogical Research Institute of Virginia. She died on 20 May 2000, and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Scope and Content
Papers, 1981-1997, of Margaret Hickerson Emery (1919-2000) of Richmond, Virginia, consisting of final reports of genealogical research prepared for clients. The reports contain the client's request or query, summary of findings, source notes, and exhibits. The exhibits include abstracts, copies, and transcriptions of bonds, census records, chancery suits, deeds, estate accounts and inventories, land patents and grants, military and pension records, tax records, vital statistics, and wills. There are also applications to various patriotic and hereditary organizations, family group sheets, genealogical charts, and copies from published sources.
