Biographical Information
Lenwood Glisson Clark was born in Newport News, Virginia on 27 June 1938. He was the son of Lenwood Vernon Clark (1913-1996) and Catherine Elizabeth Brady (1917-2005). Clark graduated from Virginia Tech with a masters degree in engineering mechanics. He was chief engineer of the Space Projects Office at NASA Langley Research Center for 42 years. Clark married Pamela Ann Morris (b. 1937) in Salisbury, North Carolina on 21 January 1962. He died in Poquoson, Virginia on 4 March 1999, and is buried in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News.
Scope and Content
Papers, 1963-1999, of Lenwood Glisson Clark (1938-1999) of Poquoson, Virginia, containing his genealogical research on the Clark family and the allied lines of Booker, Brent, Cobbs, Farrar, Fleete, Glisson, Gwaltney, Hinton, Marot, Pettway, Selden, Sheppard, Turnage, Wallace, Warren, Wescott/Westcott, Wood, and Worsham. Areas covered include Amelia, Charles City, Dinwiddie, Elizabeth City, Henrico, Lancaster, Mecklenburg, Surry, and York Counties, Virginia, and Georgia, New Jersey, and North Carolina. There are copies and transcriptions of census records, deeds and land patents, marriage records and vital statistics, military records, published sources, tax records, and wills, as well as correspondence, family group sheets, genealogical charts and pedigrees, information from genealogical websites and message boards, and notebooks. In addition, there are original family Bibles of the Glenn family of Cocke County, Tennessee, Glisson family of Augusta, Georgia, and Loop family of Montgomery County, Virginia.
