Biographical Information

John Reynoldson Butterworth was born 13 April 1903 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, to Abner Goode Butterworth (1876-1950) and Julia Harris Butterworth (1880-1976). Butterworth collected several documents relating to Dinwiddie County's history. He died 26 August 1987 in Petersburg, Virginia.

Scope and Content

Dinwiddie County records, 1850-1884, collected by John Reynoldson Butterworth (1903-1987) of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, consisting of deeds and a plat of property in Dinwiddie County; correspondence concerning business matters and property ownership; judicial records, including a bill of complaint and a petition, from the Dinwiddie County Court; an account; and a draft of a bill to amend certain Virginia state legislation.
