Scope and Content Information
This accession contains the genealogical research files kept by Delia McMahan and Helen Lorraine for McMahan's publication, "Pioneer Familes." Information is included on the Allen, Bird (Byrd), Gannaway, Gregory, Love, Shepard, Wright, and Yancey families of Augusta, Botetourt, Buckingham, Cumberland, Essex, Louisa, Pittsylvania, Shenandoah, and Wythe Counties, Virginia; and Ohio and North Carolina. Included are abstracts of deeds and wills, tax and vital statistics records, correspondence, family group sheets, notes, and published sources. Also included are two copies of "Pioneer Families", revised in 1977 and 1978.
