Digital transfer files (.WAV and .mp3) were produced from the original cassette audio tapes in 2007 and 2008, for all audio existing for project years 1997/1998 through 2006/2007. These digital files have been placed on compact discs and are intended to be used as service copies. Audio interviews from the 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 project years have not been digitized. While there are not necessarily recordings for all of the interviews, written transcriptions of or reports on the interviews are available the entire collection.

Historical Information

The Lakeland High School Military Veterans Oral History Project is a collection of interviews of veterans from the Suffolk, Virginia, area by Lakeland High School history students.

Scope and Content

The Lakeland High School (Suffolk, Va.) Military Veterans Oral History Project, 1997-2009, captures veterans' recollections of military duty and their involvement in major U.S. military actions including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and post-Vietnam conflicts. Written transcripts or reports are included for all interviews. Audio or video recordings are available for some but not all of the interviews. A complete list is available at the library. No materials are available from the 1998-1999 project.
